Scenario pack: research and business development

Use AI to structure research, not to supply the evidence or make the choice.

When a small team must scan public market information, compare suppliers, or summarize peer practices, AI can make a first brief easier to organize. A person still opens the sources, checks dates and claims, states what is unknown, and makes the recommendation.

Business outcomeReduce repetitive gathering and formatting so people have more time for evidence review, supplier conversations, customer understanding, trade-offs, and complex decisions.

Run the smallest useful test

1. Decide

Check the workflow

Use the research example in the First AI Workflow Kit to name the question, source boundary, decision owner, review step, and small test.

Check workflow fit

2. Review

Make the evidence trail explicit

Use the review card to distinguish a generated draft from verified facts, evidence gaps, and the human recommendation.

3. Hand off

Map missing evidence and decisions

Define when a missing, out-of-date, conflicting, or restricted source leaves the routine path and who takes responsibility.

Map exceptions

4. Launch

Give the team a shared purpose

State that the pilot supports better research, not higher individual output; make time, influence, review, and a no-penalty concern route visible.

Build launch note

5. Learn

Compare a few real briefs

Test three to five low-risk briefs. Record time after source checking, missing facts, correction effort, decision confidence, and team experience.

What a good result looks like

A good result is not a larger stack of AI-written summaries. It is a brief with an accessible source trail, visible uncertainty, fewer repeated formatting tasks, and a better-informed human discussion. Stop or narrow the test if generated citations cannot be verified, material facts are missing or outdated, restricted information reaches an unapproved tool, or the workflow creates a pressure to deliver more briefs instead of better judgment.

Next decision after the test

Use the work-quality review to check whether the research workflow released time for analysis and complex work without creating hidden verification effort or a higher output quota.
